ABOUT ME

 

When I started this blog about 4 years ago, the title was fitting. As my 20-something years approached their deadline, I decided to keep the name as it still stood for everything I, as well as others of all ages, still deal with: A Budget! I am now starting my 30-something years with a couple new titles, 1) Wifey and 2) soon-to-be Mommy, all while being put on an even tighter budget. While some of my skills have improved, the following still remains the same:

 

1) I'm no Miss Suzy Homemaker, but

 

 2) I've earned the rights to yell out "Take that Martha Stuart!"

 

I've never been the "domesticated" type. My phone calls to my mother still consist of "So, what isle do I find (insert even the most common grocery item here)" to "What temperature is 'simmering'?"  But, on January 1st, 2012, I woke up with the dream of becoming Miss S.HM, or at least entertain the idea :) So throughout this year I will slave over a hot stove and try my once idle hands at cooking meals whose instructions don't consist of "place in microwave for 4 minutes, let cool for 2 minutes."

 

While I may not be able to cook popcorn without burning it, I have always had a knack for arts and crafts. And although I may use the excuse "It's because I'm left handed", for everything I'm bad it ( ie. cooking), it happens to because I'm left handed that the right side of my brain comes up with some pretty crafty ideas almost 24/7. I enjoy being a crazy craft lady, and heck! so does my family when it comes to years of handmade Christmas gifts! I've also recently heard of this new term called "Up-cycling" which is just a fancy word for recycling old junk into something better!

 

I hope this blog encourages those who are in the same boat as me, or in a small dingy close by, to find their inner Suzy Homemaker on a budget, or at least gives you some great ideas without spending alot of money. I'm always open to new ideas, suggestions, and positive feedback! :)
