Trial #1: Painted/Tinted Mason Jars

I've noticed a growing trend of "upcycling" mason jars, recently. From the 'redneck wine glass' to solar light jars (which I plan on making one day)! The big trend I've seen is tinting or even painting the jars. I figured this would be fairly simple and I could use them as candle holders or flower vases..... I soon found out this would be a trial and error experiment! There have been a few techniques I've seen and I started with the paint and bake one. I used a type of paint that could be cured in the oven (found it at Michael's). The directions were easy, just paint and bake for 30 minutes as per the label on the paint jar. This didn't end up the way I thought it would! I either need to find different paint or use paint thinner to make it more opaque. This is what I came up with:

My materials:

Painted Jars:

The outcome:

I think I'll just paint them completely solid this time and then try a second technique with modge podge and food coloring for my next trial with tinting mason jars! I WILLLLL get this perfect, I promise :)
