Hello Spring Floral Wall Art

Pastel colors, blue skies and gorgeous weather, baby ducks learning to swim, and the prettiest home decor of the year. Spring is officially here! Flowers are in bloom and they have found their way into my heart via watercolor prints. These hand painted looking designs are showing up everywhere, and I'm not afraid to over do it this season.

What better way to welcome Spring then to say "Hello?" The purples lend a soft compliment to the pastels printed on the canvas paper, while the thin, handwritten font gives a playful touch. This project has been on my mind since the beginning of March, so I'm all ready to take down my St. Patrick's day decorations and spruce up the house with watercolor flowers and pretty pastels!

Supplies Needed:

Silhouette Printable Canvas Paper®

Vinyl

Cardstock

Double sided tape

Double Glass Frame

Directions

Step One: Open Floral Design, Print, and Cut

1. Open the Watercolor Flower Bouquet Corners file from the Design Store

2. Resize as needed

3. Print on Silhouette Printable Canvas Paper®

4. Cut shape

I originally was going to use the entire sheet of canvas paper as my background, but later decided to use a colored card stock, so I ended up cutting the flowers out with scissors instead of using the Print and Cut technique.

Step Two: Prepare and Cut vinyl

1. Choose your favorite font (I used Paprika)

2. Size it according to your canvas (Mine was 8 x 10)

3. Make sure you Flip Horizontally (I swear this step gets me every time!)

This step is important in order to make sure your text is displayed the correct way once you apply it to the glass, unless you plan on applying it to the front of the glass

4. Sent to Silhouette and cut

Step Three: Weed Vinyl

1. Using your preferred tool, weed your design.

Step Four: Cut Background Paper

1. Choose your favorite card stock for the background

2. If necessary, trim the paper to the appropriate size (Mine is 8 x 10)

3. Use decorative corner scissors, if desired

I had a hard time deciding which color background to choose, but I think the purple works much better than the grey.

Step Five: Assemble All Pieces Onto Frame

1. Measure and tape your background paper in the center of the back piece of glass

2. Adhere the floral corners to the background paper

3. Apply vinyl to the inside (back) of the top piece of glass

To make this step a little easier, I would recommend placing the top glass over the bottom glass so that you can align your vinyl in the appropriate place.

Hang on Wall and Enjoy the First Day of Spring

This project has me feeling like a lady with it's pastel watercolors and pretty purples. I can't wait to create more projects that compliment this beautiful piece.
