Nautical Nursery Decor
I have a HUGE mommy confession, and as someone who considers herself to be pretty on top of these types of things, I'm a little embarrassed to reveal this..... but, my son is 7 months old and we still have yet to finish his nursery! Don't jump to conclusions, he does have a crib and changing table, we just haven't bought any shelving units, a rocker {at this point there's not too much point for that}, or put up any decorations. Books are stacked in one corner, stuffed animals are cozy being stuffed into one small canvas bin, and all other random objects are noticeably sitting in the opposite corner. If I don't get on top of this, he'll be able to help move his furniture around by the time we get ready to finish the nursery!
With all that being said, I've had so many different ideas for nursery decor. Then, I received my glorious box from Silhouette and all of a sudden I had another! I wanted to incorporate an original design along with one I found in Silhouette Studio®, then one thing lead to another and now Boogie has a new piece of art work to hang on his wall.
Supplies Needed
Silhouette® Printable Cotton Canvas
Silhouette® Heat Transfer Material (Silver & Blue Glitter)
Frame
Step One: Print Background
1. Print your background on Silhouette® Printable Cotton Canvas paper.
There were so many options on the Silhouette Studio® that would have worked great, but I wanted to add a little piece of me to this particular piece, so I decided to create a watercolor inspired background using Adobe Photoshop.
Step Two: Create & Set Up Design
1. Open your design in Silhouette Studio®
2. Resize to your liking
3. Mirror image (***very important step when working with heat transfer material***)
4. Set blade settings as needed
Step Three: Cut & Weed Vinyl
1. Load your vinyl into your Silhouette Cameo® with shiny surface face down (no mat required)
2. Weed your design so that only your original artwork is visible
Step Four: Iron Design Onto Fabric
1. Place your design on your fabric as desired so that you design appears right side up
2. Place a towel over the design and hold down for 45-60 seconds
3. Repeat if necessary until the clear plastic removes and your design stays on the fabric
Place In Frame and Enjoy
I wasn't sure what frame I was going to place this in until I turned around and looked at my bookshelf. I've had two black frames that I originally turned into chalkboards, just sitting around pretty much collecting dust out in the open. Perfect! YOU will be recreated, again, into something pretty! The question is now, when will all the other nursery decor be hung on the walls?
