A little Luck and a few Cheers

Nothing excites me more than wine, but being able to reuse all of our bottles to create something pretty might just beat that initial excitement! While I've spray painted many wine bottles, I've never used acrylic paint, and it's been a learning experience. Like I mentioned yesterday on my banner post, I do enjoy using materials that I already have, so grabbing a couple wine bottles and finding the perfect champagne gold acrylic paint in my craft closet was GOLD to me!

I wanted to create a more rustic & elegant St. Patrick's day decor, rather than going full out bright green. My choice colors are gold, cream, and a variety of greens, with burlap. I'm not even half way done with the my wine rack decor and I'm already green with envy over how beautiful it looks. Here's how I created the gold shamrock wine bottles.

Supplies Needed:

Empty wine bottles

Gold acrylic paint

Sponge brush

Vinyl

Silhouette Cameo

Directions:

Step One - Remove Labels From Wine Bottles

1. Place bottles in sink with warm soapy water and let soak

2. Peel off labels. May require a razor

3. Rinse and let dry

Step Two - Prepare And Cut Vinyl

1. Open shamrock design in Silhouette Studio

2. Duplicate design and resize for various sizes

3. Send to Silhouette to cut on vinyl

Step Three - Place Vinyl On Bottles

1. Cut out each individual shamrock

2. Place on bottle where you please

Step Four - Paint Wine Bottle

1. Start with one coat of gold acrylic paint

2. Add layers as desired

Step Five - Peel Off Vinyl

1. Peel off vinyl shamrocks

This is where I learned my lesson for future projects, even though I should have already known this. Learn from my mistake and peel the vinyl off while the paint is still wet. The majority of my shamrocks took the paint off with the vinyl. While in my wine rack, you fortunately can not see the deformed clovers, but if you are showcasing this anywhere else, I guarantee you won't want to make this mistake.

Display and Celebrate!

While these didn't come out perfect, they are absolutely the perfect addition for my wine rack St. Patrick's day decor! I still have a few more projects until I'm done, but I'm loving how it's all coming together with JUST the materials I already have!
