Creative Easter Egg Idea

I wanted to create an Easter wreath and had an idea in mind for about three weeks. I finally got around to creating the 'main event' of the wreath (the Eggs) but ended up using them in a completely different way! I found the eggs on no other than Pinterest and was dyeing to make them as soon as I saw them! This is a great, creative idea in which can be used in many different projects. All you need is some string, balloons, and fabric hardener of your choice.

Blow up the ballons as big as you'd like. I didn't make mine too large because my design I originally planned on called for medium sized 'eggs'.

Next, I painted on a light coat of the fabric stiffener to the balloon in order for the string to attach better as I randomly wrap it around the balloon. Some of the other tutorials said to drench the string directly in the stiffener.

I ended up dunking the eggs in a bowl of the stiffener after wrapping them with the string. Place them on a sheet of wax paper and let them dry completely. I started this project at some point in the evening, so it was almost 24 hours by the time I got around to the next step.

Once the string is completely dry and hardened, carefully pop the balloon. At this time the balloon will start to break away from the strings as shown in the picture to the left. Hopefully you have an opening large enough to pull the balloon out. You may have to play Operation and try not to break anything during this process.

These were my easter eggs I used in my first attempt to create an Easter wreath. I took it down off my front door when I took a better look at it. It was one of my worst creations I must say! I took it down, went to the Dollar store and started over! I ended up using the eggs in a less 'Eastery' way than expected, but am quite fond of the design concept I created.

I placed two of them in a green flower vase I had and tied it with a brown satin ribbon. It was the perfect accent piece to go with the rest of the decor in the living room. It almost looks like something you would find at Pier One Imports or somewhere pricey! (Sort of ;D ) Either way I'm satisfied with the end design, even if the eggs didn't end up on an Easter wreath!
